Since posting my ‘San Francisco’ video..besides getting questions about my filming, I’ve also had a lot of emails asking what its like to visit.
I always fly with ‘Virgin Atlantic’ going to the US as their service is great and they also have good entertainment.
I knew I had a lot of driving to do so I booked a hire car with ‘Dollar’ at SFO airport.
I picked a ‘Toyata Corolla’, big enough for luggage, cheap and amazing on gas.
Regarding accommodation …I always book with ‘Airbnb’.
Most of the time ‘Airbnb’ is cheaper then hotels…plus hotels in SF is very tricky as most of them don’t have parking, or they charge about $20/30 a night
that will add up fast…so check with your Airbnb host and ask about street parking at their accommodation.
Thats what I did and we never had an issue with parking 🙂
Also, as you know…you can save money by having coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner having a kitchen at the home you rented
rather then spend money on eating out all the time.
But….iHOP is so good an cheap, so don’t forget to indulge too haha
Best iHop is on ‘Lombard Street’
2299 Lombard St, San Francisco, CA 94123, United States
This is also close to ‘Lombard Street’ famous windy road, close to ‘Golden Gate’ park, downtown, China town and ‘Alcatraz’
Next to ‘Lombard’ is also ‘Chestnut Street’ shops ‘Apple, good food ‘Super Duper Burgers’ and ‘Tacolicious’
As we looked around SF, despite how biz the city gets…parking downtown and around the city was actually quite easy.
So don’t forget to park up, get out and walk around the city for beautiful sites of the homes around SF
‘Golden Gate park is massive, bigger then New York’s ‘Central Park’ with lots of parking throughout the park.
But nearly every location like ‘Conservatory Of Flowers’ , ‘Japanese Tea Garden’ etc has a entrance fee so keep that in mind.
If you plan on venturing outside SF and heading out to ‘Big Sur’ or ‘Yosemite National Park’…the drive is worth it with views to last a lifetime
Just don’t leave between 4pm-6:30pm as the ‘Bay Bridge’ gets a lot of traffic haha
Also remember there is a entrance fee into ‘Yosemite’
There are plenty of places to stop for gas and food so the drive is nice
For other great food, snack places…be sure to check out:
Mr Holmes bakehouse – 1042 Larkin St, San Francisco, CA 94109, United States
‘Straw’ – 203 Octavia Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94102, United States
‘Bobs Donuts’ – 1621 Polk St, San Francisco, CA 94109, United States
Downtown SF reminds me a lot of ‘New York’ in ‘California’…its hard to explain
We stayed in ‘Bernal Heights’ which was close to the airport, city and amazing local areas
I think that pretty much covers it…any questions please drop em below
