RED EPIC w/ Sigma 18-35

Recently on shoots... I used to rock the Samyang/Rokinon Cine lenses, great lenses…manual aperture and nice throw on focus

as well as being fast at 1.5

Before that I owned a set of Canon L Glass.

I always sell what I don't need, I don't like to own too much gear. Use what I have to the best abilities

Recently I just switched lenses again and I'm shocked….because I've never been a zoom lens man, always a prime guy.

Until the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8

When your lugging gear around, trying to get shots, moving fast…you don't want to miss a shot, changing lenses or settle for a shot because you don't have time to change lens

while in the middle of hopping of a train between shots cuz you noticed something cool.

So I now rock the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8. Thats 3 lens changes on location if I still used my Samyang/Rokinon 18mm, 24 and 35mm

and the Sigma still has more focal range.

Besides saving time on shoots, I've noticed that the Sigma lens is sharper then the Samyang/Rokinon glass, it also doesn't flare as easy

(some may not prefer that)

I also absolutely love love love, the fall off.

Its about the same size as the Samyang/Rokinon 24mm so don't be worried about the weight and size of it being a zoom.

Its firkin awesome.

Sigma are also bringing out their new 50mm 1.4 which I can not wait for.

If only they were to bring out another zoom but around 50-135mm 1.8  with the same quality. An 18-35mm 1.8 and 50-135mm 1.8 would be 2 lenses to not mess with.

Few people complain about the throw/degree of focus, but unless you have a focus puller with you…I wouldn't worry too much.

I now also use the amazing Tiffen Vari-ND with my EPIC and Sigma 18-35mm.

It is by far the best Vari-ND I have ever used, solid and nice build…nice case as you'd expect like they have with their 4x4 filters. Color quality/sharpness is also amazing.

Again, to change this on my Samyang/Rokinon glass I would have to screw/un screw this filter 3 times, on and off between shots. Sigma, bamn, just leave it on.

Unless you need it off for shots of course haha
